About

Hi!

My name is Jennie, I’m 21 and from London. This blog is mainly for my family and friends, so they can check up on me and what I’ve been up to. But more importantly, so they know I haven’t died when I don’t answer their text that they’ve sent at 3am PST.

On this blog you will mostly just see pictures, maybe some writing – honestly we’ll see how it goes. As the title states this whole thing is about navigating Canada (a country I had never been to before I moved here) and the IEC; the visa programme I am here on.

For those of you who don’t know, the IEC is a 2 year working holiday visa offered to British citizens aged 18-35. It essentially just allows you to move to Canada for two years, work if you want, travel if you want – it’s up to you.

Personally, I chose to move to Vancouver (on the West Coast of Canada) and for the first 5 months of my visa I will be interning (unpaid) and also working part-time. I came on a programme through BUNAC who partner with a Canadian Internship/Work Placement company called InternEx here in British Columbia – so you’ll here a bit about that too.

I hope you enjoy reading about all the amazing sunsets I see (such as the header of this blog), the sports I watch, the hiking I attempt (and most likely fail to do) and finally how I settle into Canadian culture, Vancouver and working life.

Also, place your bets on how long it takes me to start saying “sorry” in a Canadian accent because we all know it’s going to happen at somepoint.
